Finnish Energy promotes a stable energy policy

Energy and climate policies have been on the Finnish agenda for decades. With the latest energy and climate strategy Finland will fulfill its obligations under EU 2030 energy and climate strategy. Finland will also line its national energy plan to be in accordance with the governance model for the EU Energy Union.

Growing share of energy and climate related legislation is made on EU level, majority of national legislation is linked to the EU-level decisions. Functioning energy markets, energy security and reducing climate impact have become main focus points in EU.

EU energy policy has three main targets:

  • sustainable development
  • competitiveness
  • energy security

In order to reach these targets, it is important to invest in energy efficiency, promote new technological solutions and utilize more renewable energy sources.
